Anyway, the way magic will work in this game is pretty simple. First of all, a mystic circle appears under the character, and will draw itself until the spell is fully charged. The color of the circle depends on the element of the spell undergoing casting. The more complicated the spell, the more charge time will be required to complete it. Once you let go of the assigned spell button, if the spell was fully charged, and you have enough Energy, the spell will be cast. Otherwise, a "spell fail" sound will sound off. There will be projectile spells, Area of Effect spells, and hit all spells, as well as healing/defensive spells. Each character learns most of them through leveling up, but there will be plenty of instances where you will find or receive spell books, and can teach any character those spells. Whether or not you want Sparkz to have them all is up to you.
Non-game wise, though, magic does take a lot of energy. Besides actual magical Energy, it also takes metabolism. So for this reason, you'll often see Sparkz complaining about how hungry he is in a cutscene, and he might even run off the moment you get into a town for the first time to grab some grub.
